"Eat Your Heart Out" is an original scratchboard drawing that was part of a "Sibling Hearts" series I created for a collaborative show with my brother, P.Y. Simpson. He created 10 heart sculptures and I came up with 10 scratchboard drawings of the sculptures. He sent photos of his work for me to use as reference. You can see all the hearts in this Facebook album.
After scratching, I colored the board with ink and then sprayed it with multiple layers of Golden UVLS Gloss varnish. I also added a bit of texture to the varnish when it was still wet.
The scratchboard measures 5" x 5"
It's mounted to a 4" x 4" panel. The panel is approximately 3/4" thick and the edges are painted black. A sawtooth hanger and two bumpers are attached to the back of the panel.
